Children are constantly changing and growing. In an open letter to the chief medical officer for England in 2014, UK health leaders argued that “an entire generation is being destroyed by a diet of junk food and sugary drinks”. Although they’ve since called for an emergency task force to be set up to tackle childhood obesity, you can start making some immediate changes to your child’s diet by swapping their usual sugar laden sweets and fattening crisps for some of these exceedingly healthy snacks for kids today:
1) Dried berries
Dried berries are not only deliciously sweet and wonderfully colourful; they’re also crammed with fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, and contain only natural fruit sugars, making them a thoroughly healthy snack for kids. Children adore munching on dried berries straight from bag, scattered over breakfast granolas, in homemade trail mix or a mouth-watering range of fruit smoothies (that are a sensible substitute for fizzy drinks). So, make sure that your little ones can regularly get their sticky fingers on some of these yummy dried berries:
